TOP INTERVIEW TIPS
Some of the following advice may sound obvious, but no harm to have a read-through. Remember, interviews and the prospects of interviews can be quite stressful. Deep breathing is essential both before the interview and during. Hyper-ventilating or short breaths will come across as perhaps, a little out of control – you want to portray an air of calmness and confidence – deep slow breaths will ensure that you slow down – give yourself time to think– listen to the questions and think about your answer before you open your mouth!
HOW TO DRESS
1. Buy the best you can afford. When wearing a suit, make sure you can sit properly and comfortably.
2. Wear your best neutrals – no loud colours (unless of course, you are going for a position in advertising/media/arts etc).
3. Make sure your clothes are current, not necessarily trendy.
4. Avoid any flashy accessories.
5. Advisable to skip on the after-shave on this occasion.
6. Go for understated elegance – if in doubt, go subtle.
7. Shoes must match your suit in quality and be well polished and your socks should be a dark colour-mid calf length
8. A good leather brief-case is essential – so often, an outfit can be ruined with a cheap alternative.
9. If you have to bring an umbrella, make sure it tones with your outfit. Leave in reception anyway.
10. Have a good quality notepad and pen to hand.
